Above are four links to mp3 audio messages. They are organized first by the Old Testament and the New Testament. Then within each of those they are organized by the book they were preached from. For example: All of the message from the book of Genesis will be in the Old Testament and then click on the Genesis title bar and the list of all the messages will open up below the title bar. Click the title bar again to close it.
All of the messages are from only two different Old School Baptist elders and both are no longer with us but have realized their hope and are basking in the presence of the Almighty God.
The first Elder that I want to mention is Elder James Poole who was my first exposure to the Old School Baptists. At the time that I new him he was the Elder of Welsh Tract and Snow Hill assemblies. He was an editor of the Old School Baptist periodical “Signs of the Times” (which was first published in 1832) for approximately two years and then he started his own periodical entitled “The Remnant”. My wife and I were added to the mailing list, by someone we knew, to receive cassette tapes in the mail. We were extremely excited to get them and very appreciative of them and couldn’t get enough! You can be assured that all of his messages that he was given to preach are excellent in content and proclaim the truth! But please keep in mind that during that time the cassette tapes were used and reused over and over again and unfortunately with some of them the quality of the recording is not that good. When converting the cassette audio to digital audio I attempted to clean up some of the static and background noise that was on the tape. With a lot of them this helped considerably but unfortunately it didn’t help with all of them.
If you have not had the opportunity to hear any of his messages before, I would highly recommend that you start with his Radio Messages. They are thirty minute messages and were recorded for a spot on the radio. They are very clear in quality but also very clear in doctrine. They were not recorded in front of a congregation but just Elder Poole and his recorder.
The second Elder that is part of these audio files is Elder Chet Dirkes. When we first met he had just been ordained an Elder at Welsh Tract assembly. He reached out to me from the web-site I had at the time and by God’s grace we developed a wonderful friendship. We talked on the phone regularly and since we didn’t live in the same city he would send us cassette tapes of the messages he was given to preach. I would take those messages and convert them to digital format. When you listen to him preach you get the feeling that he is preaching to a full house. It didn’t matter if it was a full house or 2 people there, he always preached the same. He had a saying when asked how many were in attendance: “It was a full house, there were no empty seats because all that were ordained to be there were there.” That’s all he cared about, he was never concerned about the numbers. He had a gift for finding what we called “nuggets”. As you are given to listen to his messages you will hear what I mean! Thankfully his messages were all recorded on clean cassette tapes in the beginning and towards the end he actually went to a digital recorder. So, all of his messages are as clear as when they were given. And just like Elder Poole, you can be assured of hearing the truth of the Gospel from Elder Dirkes!
There were a few times when the Lord kept giving Elder Dirkes thoughts from a certain book or passage and thus a series was produced. All these messages are included in the list for the book they are from but to make them easier to find and listen to I have included a section at the bottom of the New Testament page just for series.
